Capt. Larry Lusk – USCG Master 100 Ton Licensed
Hello and welcome aboard! I have over 35 years of fishing experience that began as a young man working as a commercial fisherman on trawlers offshore in the Atlantic Ocean for four years. This included flounder fishing in the winter, scalloping in the spring, and shrimping in the Gulf during the summer.
However, growing up in Hampton Roads is where my passion for recreational freshwater bass fishing and saltwater fishing all began. I have enjoyed tournament bass fishing for many years, fishing lakes and rivers in Virginia and North Carolina. I take pride in scoring well in Va. B.A.S.S Region 7 tournaments multiple years, and even being named Angler of the Year in 1988. I’ve also qualified for two bass fishing Wal-Mart – BFL Regionals.
When not freshwater bass fishing, I can be found joining friends saltwater fishing in the ocean or Chesapeake Bay for cobia, flounder, and trout. Hence, the name “Fresh & Salt Charters.”
On a personal note, I was blessed with wonderful parents who taught me the golden rules: Respect for others, manners, help others who are less fortunate, and have a hard work ethic to lead a “no excuses” way of life. I’m happily married to wife Patty, and most recently semi-retired after working 31 years at the same company and leading it for the last nine years as its GM. I also have two sons, Matt and David, who began fishing with me as young boys, and with whom I’ve shared my fondest fishing memories. This includes fishing for “smallies” on the St. Lawrence River, offshore fishing, and even salmon and halibut fishing in Alaska. Memories to last a lifetime. They both now reside in the Outer Banks, and have developed quite a skillful fishing reputation of their own. We still try to carve out time for a fishing adventure when time allows.
